The new legislation requires consideration of a child’s gender identity when making considerations regarding placement. This is a huge step forward for LGBT foster youth!

For me, the notable conclusion is that differences within individuals of a gender are very large. We talk about averages as if they are absolute (all men are of one type, all women of another) when the reality is that we are more beautifully diverse than that!

The film profiles Darwin, a Death Valley town with 35 citizens, including Ryal, a young FTM transgender man in the process of transition. While living in Darwin, Ryal is able to develop a closer relationship with his parents, who have struggled in the past to accept their son. You can watch the film now with this link.
